A Quote to Live By — Good for Troubled Times

“We must free ourselves of the hope that the sea will ever rest. We must learn to sail in high winds.” ~Aristotle Onassis

I like this quote. “We must free ourselves.” That’s right, stop waiting for a better time, wishing things were easier, expecting people to be more agreeable. Be free of all that and focus on steering your ship where you want to go.

I hesitated a bit to say that a quote by Aristotle Onassis guides me. The man also said, ““I approach every woman as a potential mistress.” Ouch. Not good. But I believe that you should weigh the merit of an idea separate from the source of the idea. And so I applaud the idea of being free from expectations of smooth sailing.
