When Amy Purdy lost both legs at age 19, she didn’t know she’d be a TED Talk speaker, an innovator in creating prosthetics, or appear on Dancing with the Stars.

All Amy knew was her life of traveling, working as a massage therapist, and blasting down snowboard hills, was over. Wasn’t it?

She asked herself:

“If your life were a book, and you were the author, how would you want your story to go?”

Today, rereading her book, these words jumped out:

“I didn’t write this book because I want you to say, ‘Wow, look at what that girl overcame — good for her.’ I’m sharing my story because I want you to see what’s possible in your own life.”

She’s talking to you and me.
